Launched in 2014, OUTRIGGER Zone is our global environmental platform, encompassing preserving and protecting our coral reefs, resource efficiency, waste reduction and responsible sourcing.

OUTRIGGER global initiatives for World Ocean Month 2026
Throughout June, OUTRIGGER properties across the globe will activate site-specific efforts to promote ocean literacy and inspire stewardship. Highlights by location are below.
Ongoing through June – VR simulation of coral planting and coral restoration education by Kuleana Coral in the OUTRIGGER Reef Lobby. A portion of proceeds from the Coral Cocktail at KKPG will go to Kuleana Coral
June 1 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Johnson Enos and his "Honu By the Sea" cast will host a with meet & greet photos at the Waikiki Beachcomber Lobby.
June 8 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Keiki ocean awareness activities including Johnson Enos and his "Honu By the Sea" cast will host a with meet & greet at the Outrigger Reef in the A`o Cultural Center.
June 14 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Keiki ocean awareness activities at the Waikiki Paradise Hotel lobby.
June 21 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Keiki ocean awareness activities at the Outrigger Reef in the A`o Cultural Center
June 27 | 9:00 AM–12:00 PM – OUTRIGGER Zone Day will take place at the Waikīkī Aquarium. This culminating event of World Ocean Month gathers community partners for a day of ocean education, live music and conservation booths.

June 8 | 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM – Hawaiian Monk Seal Hospital dispatch by the Marine Mammal Center: Learn safe viewing demonstrations and rescue stories and games, activities, and giveaways with Ke Kai Ola – Hawaiian Monk Seal Hospital.
June 12 | 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM – ReefTeach: Guests and local volunteers learn how to identify reef-friendly behaviors while supporting marine monitoring efforts at Kahalu‘u Bay Education Center.
June 7 | Time TBD – Holopuni Youth Sailing Experience: Young ocean explorers are invited aboard the Holopuni sailing canoe for a meaningful hands-on experience led by Kahakukahi Ocean Academy.

June 8 | 7:45 AM – 8:45 AM -- Sailing with Purpose for World Ocean Day: Set sail along Maui’s breathtaking coastline aboard a meaningful cultural sailing experience led by Hōkūleʻa crew member Anela Benson. Discover Hawaiian navigation traditions, ocean stewardship practices, and the importance of protecting our marine ecosystems through the values of aloha ʻāina and mālama honua. June 13 and June 20 – Interactive Marine session with Heritage in Young Hands Year 3 Junior Park Rangers. Tote bag painting activity promoting the use of reusable bags and hands-on coral planting experience in the nursery.

June 25 – Crown of Thorns starfish removal and Fish House Making
June 4 | 9:30 AM – Coral planting on site at the North Beach area of the property.
June 8 | Ongoing – Guests will have the opportunity to book a coral gene bank snorkeling trip at the boatshed. The property will also be hosting a beach cleanup at 3:30 PM and an environmental presentation at the main lounge at 8:00 PM.
June 18 | 9:30 AM – Underwater cleanup and crown-of-thorns starfish removal.
June 25 | 2:30 PM – Fish house marking.
June 8 | Coral planting sessions near the resort’s water villas, facilitated by resident marine biologist Chloe Ann Mclanachan.

June 16 | Sea Turtle Information pop-up table for world sea turtle day

June 8 at 9:00 AM | OUTRIGGER hosts will be releasing 100 fish and 10,000 prawns into the sea in the Paklok area.
June 8 at 8:30 AM | Mangrove Reforestation with OUTRIGGER Khao Lak Beach Resort: The Khao Lak team will work on mangrove forest restoration in collaboration with the Mangrove Forest Resource Conservation Center No. 10, Takua Pa, Phang Nga. A total of 3,000 trees will be planted to restore the mangrove ecosystem and promote biodiversity.
June 8 | Crab Release at OUTRIGGER Koh Samui Beach Resort: in partnership with Baan Tai Crab Bank, Koh Samui Beach Resort will be releasing baby crabs for the fourth year to help restore the native crab population. The crab bank also provides education on the lifespan and habitat of crabs as well as responsible fishing practices. In addition to supporting with the crab release, OUTRIGGER Koh Samui will also donate to support Baan Tai Crab Bank’s efforts in purchasing female crabs from local fishermen.
June 8 | Mangrove Planting at OUTRIGGER Phi Phi Island Resort: The OUTRIGGER team will be planting mangroves, an important species in coastal conservation and biodiversity.
June Date TBD | Seagrass planting at OUTRIGGER Koh Samui Beach Resort: Seagrass plays a vital role in the ocean as it serves as habitats for native fish and crabs. Seagrass also acts as a barrier against waste entering the ocean. The seagrass restoration program is led by Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center for Central Gulf of Thailand. The aim is for a number of resorts to come together to plant 24,000 seagrass plants over 15 rai.

June 26 | Guests, hosts and students will be able to visit Bis Lamer, the marine center and educational sessions on-site by Reef Conservation
